This week we have a special episode for Vaisakhi. Normally the programme is sectioned into five areas/segments: Meanings, Shabad translation, History of the Sikhs, a Story and some inspirational songs. This week we’ve rolled the first three segments into one.
We cover in the first part of the programme, the history of Vaisakhi, the 5 K’s of the Sikhs, what happens at the Gurdwara during this special day and recent developments for a dedicated Sikh calendar (see also: my posting from 11th April at: http://drsavi.blogspot.com )
This weeks backing track is called Hari Har by Snatam Kaur from the CD Grace
We have 2 this week. One at the beginning of the programme:
Deh Shiva Bar Mohe (also known as the Sikh National Anthem)
and one at the end of the programme:
Dukh Bhanjan Tera Naam Ji
Inspirational songs this week include:
Free by the Lighthouse family – I thought of this as we need to remember the fight for freedom at the time of Vaisakhi.
There will come a day by Incognito from the CD LIfe Stranger than fiction
Waheguru – By Guru Singh and Friends (inc: Seal).
We hope you enjoy the show and we always value your feedback.
